1st SGT (Ret.) Joseph B. Pollock, 86, of Junction City, passed away on April 2, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 8, 2018, from 5:00 pm. to 6:00 pm. at St. Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington St., Junction City, Kansas, followed by Rosary.

Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am on Monday, April 9, 2018 at St. Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington St., Junction City, Kansas with Father Peter O'Donnell officiating. Inurnment at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, Manhattan, KS will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington St., Junction City, KS 66441 or a Homecare or Hospice facility of the donor's choice.

He was born on August 20, 1931, Centralia, Illinois to Thomas and Gertrude (Werner) Pollock.

Joseph served in the US Army as an Infantryman from 1947 until he retired in 1974 as a 1st Sgt. During his time in the Army he received the following recognitions: Army Occupation medal (Germany), Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal W/OLC, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Good Conduct Medal-6th Award, Bronze Star Medal W/3 OLC, Gallantry Cross W/Palm, Civil Actions Medal W/OLC, Armed Forces Honorary Medal-2nd CL, Expert (M-14 Rifle), Sharpshooter (M-1 Rifle), Expert (M-16A1 Rifle), Expert (M-16 Rifle), Sharpshooter (.45 Pistol), Presidential Unit Citation (Korea), Presidential Unit Citation (United States), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Berlin), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, Bronze Star W/"V" Device.

After retiring from the Army, Joseph worked 20 years with the Geary County Sheriff's Office.

On February 23, 1955 he married Virginia in Centralia, Illinois. Joseph and Virginia have lived in Junction City, Kansas since 1970.

Joseph is survived by his loving Wife, Virginia; 7 Children, Terri (Robert) Wahle of Junction City, KS, Jeffrie (Cornelia) Pollock of Junction City, KS, Maureen (Dennis) McGuire of Olathe, KS, Brian (Dorette) Pollock of Lakewood, WA, Rhonda Bishop of Junction City, KS, Stephanie (Joseph) Rogers of Davidson, MI; Richard Scott (Linda) Pollock of Milford, KS; Brother, Thomas Patrick Pollock of Albemarle, NC; 12 Grandchildren; and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Thomas and Gertrude Pollock, and Granddaughter, Kelly Michelle Wahle.

Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, of Junction City, Kansas, is assisting with cremation arrangements.
